Clerks (1994)
This black and white movie starred Kevin Smith, who worked on the film for only a little over $27,500. While it is a very raunchy and dialog-driven film, we are sure that you can sympathize with the main character and his pal if you have ever worked a counter. We are amazed by how brilliant it was in its simplicity! The movie was the beginning of the Smith films and introduced viewers to the New Jersey Trilogy. To this day, it is one of his greatest works. We still like to quote, “I’m not even supposed to be here today.”
Duck Soup (1933)
Fun fact: this is the oldest movie on the list. It is often considered the best comedic work of the Marx brothers. Even though it was not a commercial nor critical success upon its release, it has since become a comedic classic in its own right. Fair enough, the plot is definitely far-fetched. Come on, it was about Groucho leading a country with his two brothers working as spies! While it was not the most realistic plot ever, it was a straightforward comedy and deserves all the praise that it has since received.
