Dr. Strangelove (1964)
This dark comedy by Stanley Kubrick is often thought to be one of the best films in the genre. It was a satirical look at the Cold War and features a talented cast made up of Slim Perkins, Peter Sellers, and George C. Scott. We thought that any of the viewers have forgotten Major Kong riding a nuclear bomb into the ground. There was a lot of angst to go around during the Cold War, and millennials might not fully understand that. But even so, we think that younger viewers will still think that it is worth a watch!
Coming to America (1988)
Here is another hit from John Landis! This comedy flick follows Eddie Murphy, who was at the peak of his career at the time. He plays a prince from a fictional country by the name of Zamunda. He goes to America in the hopes of living a common life in preparation for the day that he was going to take over the throne. Aside from the lead star, John Amos and Arsenio Hall also killed it in their supporting roles. The viewers were treated to “Soul Glo” hair products and “Sexual Chocolate” soulful stylings as well!
