A Finder’s Fee
After the authorities got involved, things started moving really quickly though he didn’t divulge anything about the tapes. Not long after, lawyers called Joe and told him that in no uncertain terms, he had to return the money. They also said that as a finder’s fee, he could keep $600,000. Although Joe wasn’t sure if the safe’s original owner was someone that he would want to tangle with, he did want to keep the money. He thought that he had found the money fair and square. Then, the lawyers called him again.

It seemed like they actually thought that they were helping Joe out and they increased the finder’s fee to $1.2 million. They were playing hardball. What were these people capable of? Joe started to wonder how someone forgets keeping $7.5 million in a storage rental. Whatever the reason was, it seemed that person was not someone good. If Joe refused to return the money he’d found, how bad would the situation get?
