Mary Tyler Moore – Then
The television work experience of Mary Tyler Moore actually started with the character of Happy Hotpoint, a small dancing Elf who appeared in Hotpoint advertisements in the 50s. Moore proceeded to work with different TV roles until 1961 when Carl Reiner placed Moore at the Dick Van Dyke Show. Four years later, Moore and her spouse Grant Tinker decided to pitch their own television series and CBS liked what they were seeing. The Mary Tyler Moore Show took place from 1970-1977 and lasted six years in the top twenty.
Mary Tyler Moore – Now
To this day, Mary Tyler Moore continues to remain a cultural icon. During the 1980s, 90s and early 2000s, she continued working in television, film and theater. On 25 January 2017 Moore died tragically of cardiopulmonary arrest at the age of 80 owing to pneumonia. She will always be acknowledged as an incredible artist who pushed the boundaries with characters that tear the cliched pictures of women and criticized sexual orientation standards. She also was a productive philanthropist and animal welfare supporter.
