Christine McIntyre
In 1980, Betty Brosmer had the chance to meet actress Christine McIntyre. The two ladies had a similar philosophy when it comes to fitness. Brosmer, Weider, and McIntyre took up physiology at UCLA and launched “Shape Magazine” together. The publication gave information on fitness, exercise, and nutrition. Sadly, McIntyre died in a car crash. Her death left Brosmer and the entire staff devastated. Eventually, Brosmer hired Barbara Harris as an editor to carry on the fitness values of McIntyre and mold the magazine into the successful magazine that it went on to be. To promote the publication, Harris also appeared on various programs such as “Oprah,” “Entertainment Tonight,” and “Tonight.”
Her Writing Career
Over the years, her writing only became more and more proficient. Betty Brosmer also started taking on a lead role in “Shape” by becoming the associate editor of the magazine. This allowed her to give hundreds of thousands of women fitness tips! Using her married name, she and her spouse published two fitness books. They are called “The Weider Book of Bodybuilding for Women” and “The Weider Body Book.” These books were so successful that she teamed up with Joyce Verdal to publish a workout guide for all ages. Published in 1993, it was called “Better and Better.”
