There’s also Wonder’s activism. Have you ever considered how Martin Luther King Jr. Day came to be? On the other hand, the musician was instrumental in launching the campaign for a national holiday to honor the civil rights icon. And he’s gotten something in return for his efforts. Wonder was named a Messenger of Peace by the United Nations in 2009, and Barack Obama awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2014.
