Cats are wonderful creatures that, at all times, are unpredictable. Musya, on the one hand, not only surprised her owner but a whole team of veterinarians as well. She shocked all of them when she was found to be nursing her babies. The animal was a beloved feline, a resident of Sadgorod Zoo. She turned out to be a year old and was a strange cat all the time. Nonetheless, she all of a sudden fell pregnant. Everyone in the area wanted to make sure she felt safe before it was time to give birth!

The Search For Musya

She was never alone, even though she was waddling around the zoo. When they noticed that Musya was missing, the employees could not help but feel anxious. Geese, chickens, and raccoons were found in the zoo. Apart from those, there were lions, monkeys, bears, tigers, and others as well… The bigger animals could put the cat at risk! This was the reason why the search for the missing feline was launched.

One Of The Residents

The truth is, in the zoo, Musya was different from other animals. She became a resident by mistake! A zookeeper called Alice found her while working. She saw a black thing in the snow on a cold winter day. It was obvious that it wasn’t just a pile of dirt here. The small, black kitty was almost frozen! Her nose was covered with icicles, and she barely moved. At the zoo, Alice took her to the vets.

A Tiny Cat

Alice placed the cat in her jacket and looked for the vets immediately. To keep the kitty alive, the professionals did everything in their power. Nothing else was there to do but to wait and see. They were shocked but pleased that the cat had made it through the night. She was beginning to gain strength as the days passed. They took her to the staff room and ensured that all the love and care she needed was given to her.

They All Loved Her

Musya loved the entire staff at the petting zoo. They were pleased to see her get strong and run the whole day around the room. However, they understood that the zoo was not the best place for her. Cats are eager to explore their environment, and she had to take a look out of the window. On the other side of it, she saw wild animals! She took it as her chance to sneak out when the zookeepers unintentionally left the door open!

She Got Out Of There

Alice would take Musya on short walks, but the cat was always kept on a leash. She was afraid that the feline would fall in one of the enclosures. They’ve managed to keep doing this for almost a year. However, they were all in panic when she got out of the room on her own. They’ve been looking for Musya for two days. Alice checked out several enclosures, all the time hoping that the cat did not meet her doom.

Holding Onto Hope

The people at the zoo were all hoping that the cat was all right. They knew just how dangerous for a cat the situation could be. The others had warned Alice that Musya might never return. She was holding onto hope, despite this. She soon discovered that sometimes it is good to have faith!

She Returned Home

Two days after that, Musya went home. By pawing at the door, she alerted the employees of her presence. After seeing that the cat was safe and sound, Alice let out a clamor of relief. She began to wonder whether it was time for the cat to look for a home. However, it was too difficult to say good-bye, so Musya ended up staying there!

She Was Different

They began to notice a change in Musya a couple of weeks after her return. They found it odd that she was so cranky and lethargic. She was always playful and sweet before she left the room. Suddenly, when the door was opened, the cat did not want to head outside of the room.

Something Was Up

It felt like a completely different cat had returned. She would simply lie down on the floor as she walked out of the room. They knew something was changing. Right away, Alice noticed the difference in her behavior, but she had no idea what was happening. It felt like Musya was ‘broken.’ In the outside world, she suddenly lost any interest. Everyone was at a loss at the time. The true reason caught them by surprise!

She Went Missing Again

One day, Alice came back for a cup of tea in the staff room. She wanted to cuddle up with Musya, as usual. To her surprise, she was unable to locate the animal anywhere there. Once again, she went missing! This time, it was even worse since the weather was bad. She heard not only rain but thunder as well.

At that, the entire staff knew they had to look for Musya. They must bring her back as soon as possible! They grabbed their flashlights and searched. Zookeepers went through every imaginable spot and kept an ear for meows. She had to be somewhere…

In The Bushes

Outside the Zoo premises, there were also cars and parking spaces. It probably didn’t sound as if Musya could have gone elsewhere. Alice definitely thought she was at the zoo. She all of a sudden heard something. A wooden area was located past the lion cage. The cry appeared to have come out of a bush. Alice pointed at the spot to its flashlight. She saw that cat over there to her relief!

She Was Not On Her Own

Musya was seated peacefully in the bush. The most shocking part of it was that she was not alone! Something on her chest was crawling. She was shocked by what she saw after taking a closer look. There, she found four kittens with her! It turns out, however, that the largest surprise has yet to come.

The Big Surprise

Anyway, the sight of the kittens shocked all of them. What made them gasp, however, was that something else was crawling through her chest. As they saw the baby hedgehogs there, they were unable to keep their surprise at bay. There was no way they could have simply left them in that place.

They Got Her A Box

One of them came back to the building and grabbed a blanket and a box. This way, they could get all the animals out of risky situations. One by one, Alice picked the creatures up and put them in the container. The plan was for all of them to be taken to the vet. As you can imagine, at that time, they had a lot of questions.

She took Musya and the babies to the vet. After looking at them, the vet frowned a bit, then let out a laughter burst. He said, “I’ve never seen anything like this.” He started looking at the animals. After separating kittens and hedgehogs, he left the room to talk to Alice.

But she undid her hard work as soon as Musya was alone with the babies. She took the kittens out of one box, then moved all of them to the one with the hedgehogs! The mama cat rested with all of them, letting the babies drink their milk and stay close to the heat. Alice has returned to this beautiful sight.

An Adoptive Mom

It was clear that Musya wanted the eight hedgehog babies to be hers. She did not think it was a good idea, even though Alice was amazed. The kittens could, after all, get hurt by their siblings’ pricks from another species. Again, she split them up, but the hedgehogs refused her attempt to feed them in the bottle.

Together Once More

Though Alice knew that keeping the animals together was not a good idea, Mustya wanted to take care of all the babies. Alice finally learned, not long after this, where the hedgehogs came from. Maybe their mom got into an accident inside the zoo. She recalled a particular lawnmower incident.

On Their Own

The hedgehogs must have been on their own for a few days until Musya saw them. Before the cat took them in as her own children, the babies were probably starving. Before or after giving birth to the kittens, no one knew if she did this. What was the next thing for this odd little family?

Raising Baby Hedgehogs

Can you believe Musa’s hedgehogs never stung? Ultimately, she raised them her own. Whenever she could, Alice was there to lend a hand. All staff installed a family enclosure outside the staff room. When the story was posted online, it went viral in no time.

The baby hedgehogs, in case you were wondering, are now adults. Musya keeps keeping an eye on them every single day. To ensure they are fine, she would go to their enclosure. What a tale, am I right? Honestly, we have no clue what we would do if our cat adopted a full litter of hedgehogs!

Unlikely Family

This story is not, as it turns out, the only one of its kind! As of late, another cat named Rosinka in Russia has made new headlines. She adopted a baby squirrel monkey named Fyodor. After its own mother abandoned it, the little creature was taken home by a zookeeper. Luckily, Rosinka almost immediately started comforting the baby. Maybe helping other baby animals out when they’re in need is the norm for cats in Russia?

Bad Reputation

Everyone knows what kind of reputation cats tend to have, but we believe they can be terribly misunderstood. They’re typically less popular than dog-like pets, and it’s a shame indeed. Most dog people seem to be sure that they are this way due to cats’ malicious behavior. However, cat owners worldwide have been raving about having cats for centuries now, and for a good reason!
