Chisel
A chisel is a tool with a blade on one end that has a distinctively formed cutting edge (to the point where wood chisels have lent part of their name to a specific grind) for carving or cutting a hard material such as wood, stone, or metal by hand, struck with a mallet, or mechanical force. In the nineteenth century, a traditional wood chisel was made and used.

Ax Head
Ax heads were commonly made before the mid-nineteenth century by folding a sheet of iron in half and hammering it against an anvil. A seam runs the length of the back of this ax head and into the blade, indicating that it was made this way in the 1700s or earlier.
