Taking Shape
The rocks date back to approximately 320,000,000 years ago, at a time when Yorkshire was only starting to take shape and when water and sand from northern Europe began to create the brand new land. Unique Shape
The specific shape of the landmark can’t be found anywhere else in the world. The unique silhouette was carved during the last glacial period, specifically around 73000 BC and even closer to 10000 BC. It is these shapes that attract thousands of visitors to the site each year. Although you might not expect a rock formation to be quite fragile, there is another detail about the Brimham Rocks that you should know.
