Elmore James
Elmore James, a Mississippi-native who also played the blues on guitar and sang, was referred to as the “King of the Slide Guitar.” His voice has even been compared by some to sizzling. James has influenced numerous guitar generations, and his fans often practice day and night to sound like him. Elmore James died in 1963, but his enormous contribution to music was valued and acknowledged, leading to his later induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.
Stephen Stills
According to Neil Young, his bandmate is “a musical genius.” Stephen Still is unquestionably one of the most well-known singer-songwriters of his time, but he may also be the most underappreciated guitarist. He is not only a well-known guitarist but a fantastic multi-instrumentalist as well. Stills has had success as a solo performer and as a member of two successful bands. The Rolling Stones list of “The Greatest Guitarists of All Time” includes him as well.
