Clare started fighting back against Ms. Duncan when she said she wasn’t dancing, and all Clare’s friends backed her up on that. Then she went on to show Ann, again that her dress did in fact, meet the requirements of dress code. Still, Ann didn’t have it. This was when Clare’s boyfriend came in to help.

Clare’s boyfriend wasn’t going to put up with what Ann was telling them, so he said that if she wanted to kick Clare out of the prom, everyone in her group of friends would leave, too, and they would ask for their tickets to be refunded.
