It got to a point where Simon and Gerald decided to stop digging and instead do some research about the property. Once they had checked the plot number they were quickly able to understand what was going on. Before the elderly couple had built and lived in the house, the piece of land was completely empty. However, Gerald noted that the property was in fact located in quite a well-calculated area in town.

“My dad saw it and instantly said it’s an air raid shelter,” clarified Simon, “We googled it and found there are quite a few in this area.” They conducted more research, and he found out that it was a shelter made during the Second World War. He explained to the reporters, “The previous owner must have known it was there and when he built the house and put a garden in… he must have filled it in.”
