John Goodman
John Goodman played a lovable dad on Roseanne for years, so it’s not really a surprise to see him play the role of a concerned dad in Coyote Ugly. Violet’s father supported her by moving to New York to pursue her dreams, but he was also overprotective. When Officer Bill Sanford, John’s character, finds out his daughter works at Coyote Ugly, it didn’t sit with him well. Violet may be an adult who can make her own choices, but many parents could relate to being concerned about their children.
John Goodman Now
Even before Coyote Ugly, John Goodman had already starred in dozens of movies. After the film, he starred in dozens more. Aside from performing on-screen, the actor has done voiceover work as well. The same year that he portrayed officer Bill Sanford, he voiced the character Pacha in the Disney animated film The Emperor’s New Groove. Monsters, Inc. was released the next year, and he made audiences fall in love with monsters by voicing Sulley. Other noteworthy voiceover roles are Baloo from The Jungle Book 2, The Princess and the Frog’s Big Daddy La Bouff, and Hound in the Transformers films.
