One night, Joe heard odd noises from the kitchen while Joe and Lucy slept: a thump on the concrete, a crackling lock, stairs. His pulse raced. Who’s inside the house? In his sleep, Joe couldn’t say whether it was true or dreaming. But the next morning, as half of the food was gone the night before, he knew he had to move immediately. But having proof was the best way to tell for sure, but what Joe eventually learned would leave him feeling sick to his stomach.
