Rosa Parks And Martin Luther King Jr. In Montgomery, Alabama
Rosa Parks was working as a seamstress in an Alabaman store, back in 1955. It was the 1st of December that she got onto a bus to get to work. When white passengers started getting onto the bus in big numbers, she was asked to go and sit towards the back of the bus. She was defiant however, and flatly refused to move. This lead to her arrest, for nothing other than being black. Her arrest received great notoriety and lead to a 13-month-long boycott of city buses. This right here, whether she knew it or not, was one of the first and greatest acts of black activism for its time. It boosted the Civil Rights movement and shone the spotlight on Martin Luther King Jr.
Isambard Kingdom Brunel Was “One Of The Most Prolific Figures In engineering History”
The man pictured below is Isambard Kingdom Brunel, a renowned engineer. He is responsible for devising the Great Western Railway. The Railway consists of many tunnels, viaducts and bridges which run across the West Midlands and England. Apart from creating a web-like railway, he is also responsible for designing tunnels, bridges and ships which were meant to service the transatlantic. On top of this, he designed a ship called the ‘Great Britain’. This ship was the first iron-hulled passenger liner powered by a screw propeller and steam. Brunel redesigned and built major docks in Britain too, and continued his work until his unfortunate death in 1859.
