The Seaforth Highlanders of Scotland stepped up to fight the fascists. It became known as the Northern Scottish Brigade after the merger of the 78th Highlanders and the 72nd Highlanders. The men originally served in India, but they were then reassigned to France. Later moved to Palestine and Iraq.
