High Inbreeding
Inbreeding is a definite likelihood in the Amish families, though they may not knowingly marry their cousins. Since Amish families are so limited, they don’t have many options when it comes to marrying another Amish girl.
No Recruits
Another intriguing aspect of the Amish is their opposition to evangelism. They have a history of excluding non-members and isolating themselves from society. It’s no wonder, then, that the Amish fail to take in new members. Even the Amish’s most devoted followers are unable to attend the church.
